Phil and I drove up to Port Orford to have a look around and have lunch. We found the Port Orford Coast Guard Life Station Museum. The buildings were closed, but we got to look around the outside.

Another travel day, 31 miles up the coast to Oceanside RV Park in Gold Beach, OR. This park sits just offshore at the confluence of the Rouge River and the Pacific Ocean. Although we were told we would have 30-amp spaces, the park had just gone through an upgrade and all of our sites were 30/50. The sites were nice, interior roads were a little rough, but kept people slow. Nice newer rec hall and big enough that we had some games and meetings there.
This little squirrel is the type that burrows in the ground, much like a prairie dog. They were all over the grassy area behind our rig, attached to the small craft airport next to the park.

The Samuel S Boardman State Park is just up the road from Driftwood. So, we all made picnic lunches and carpooled up to one of the beaches called Lone Ranch Beach. Samuel S Boardman was a Senator and is a distant relative of Phil’s.
Turns out we had a group of ladies who became known as the Rockettes, collectors of rock, agates and various other shinny objects found on beaches. They had a blast collecting their various finds.
