Our
plans for today were to do the “Hop on/off” tour bus in Boston. I wanted to see
the National Parks in Boston and I thought this would be the easiest way to do
so. Turns out that the NPS in Boston is still closed for the most part, and
especially where we were supposed to go to get the Passport Book stamped. Oh well,
best laid plans and all of that.
My knee was really bothering me today, so I probably shouldn’t have even gone, but I did and paid for it! I know it put a damper on everyone else’s day.
We did manage to see some sites though. We made it to China Town, the Boston Common, where we ate lunch, and a few other locations. As usual, Phil took hundreds of pictures, and I don’t have a clue what the buildings are, but the shots do show a mixture of the old historic buildings and the new more modern ones. The many different types of architecture are very evident, even in the more recent buildings.
By the time we went back to the parking lot to pick up the truck it was late in the afternoon, getting close to 5. Once we got on the 95 turnpike heading south, I expected traffic to come to a standstill, that’s what it does in most big cities, even Little Rock. But to our surprise, other than a few slow downs where traffic was merging, we kept a pretty steady speed.
A couple of the many unknown buildings Phil took pictures ofA lot of the older historical buildings are churches
We view the Penthouse greenery
We meet up with Edger Allen Poe and his friendly vulture
This guy was standing in front of a bookstore
Which sidewalk are we suppose to use???
The gateway into China Town
Jennifer leans on the Chinese Dragon (or is it a lion??)
The playground in China Town. The area under the equipment is cushioned and feels strange to walk on, but it sure would lesson the impact of a kid falling.
This gazebo in the park where we ate lunch turned out to be a favorite with some of the homeless. While we were eating lunch, one of the guys woke up, stood and peed right over the railing!!
This is where we decided to eat lunch, the Earl of Sandwiches, it was actually pretty good food, and it was made fresh while we waited.
Nita hoofing it up a hill, with moral support from Rick
In honor of Pride Month, which was evident all over
USS Constitution
One of the stops of the Bus, we got off, then discovered that it is at the bottom of a steep staircase, and is a bar with typical bar food. It was also packed, so we didn't go down, just sat outside and waited for the next bus.
I was impressed with the green space in the newer 'Brownstones'
A beautiful tree in bloom. I'm not an expert, but it may be a Dogwood??
