Massachusetts coastal drive

6/13/21

We moved from Cape Cod to Bellingham, MA and we are camped at Circle G Campground.

6/14/21

We drove over to the coast today to see the sites. We have been through MA many times and have never taken the time to drive the coast. The coast is very difficult to see, as it is totally built up from the hills down to the shoreline. It’s certainly not the people’s coast and the people who have built for the view don’t want us, the public driving in their neighborhoods. The streets are narrow and dead end suddenly.

We love to visit lighthouses, but trying to find them in these tight areas is difficult to say the least. If we are lucky enough to find

a lighthouse, there is no place to park, as it is all privately owned or a parking permit is required.

Therefore, when we got to Plymouth, we were amazed that we were able to find a parking place, we had to pay for it, but at least we were able to get out of the truck.

The Ranger on duty said this was a Mink, she is moving her babies from one side of the open area to the other

And since I am a member of DAR, I must be in the picture as well, so says Phil!

After a nice lunch at one of the sidewalk cafes in Plymouth, we headed back out to try to locate a Lighthouse. After many wrong turns through the maze of narrow streets, Phil finally found it!

This is Scituate Light, built in 1810 and opened in 1811.

That little wave action is actually a whale playing way out from the shore, but it never surfaced enough to be able to tell what kind of whale it was.

I just wanted to sit and listen to the waves hitting the rocks.

This is a private residence, not a lot of privacy right next to a lighthouse, but hey, he is right on the water with no neighbors close by.

A storm brews off to the north, it actually went on by, we only got a few drops as we were getting ready to leave.
