We drove back up to Alexandria Bay today to take a boat tour of the many islands in the middle of the St Lawrence River, on our way to one in particular. Our island destination is Dark Island, on which sits the Singer Castle.
Once again, these pictures have loaded backwards. This is as we arrived at Singer CastleOur approach to Singer Castle

Singer Castle was constructed in 1905 by American entrepreneur Frederick Bourne, this incredible residence takes its inspiration from the mythical castles of Sir Walter Scott. Promising a time-travelling adventure for all those who dare to explore it! Frederick Bourne was the President of the Singer Sewing Machine Company.
The Boldt Castle we visited yesterday was built with love and romance involved. The Singer Castle was built with intrigue and secrets at the forefront. To start with, Mr. Bourne told his family that he was building a ‘little hunting cabin’ and there are secret passageways and chambers off many of the rooms in the Singer Castle! There is even a picture hanging in a strategic place in one of the passageways where the eyes will move as the person behind the wall spies on his guests.
